Twenty years ago, Southern rock band Ill Wind first started playing together, and it was a blast for the band and their audiences from the very first performance. Members vary depending on who shows up (hey, this is rock and roll, y’all), but the band usually features bass player Kenny Thigpen, rhythm guitar player Stephen Roberts, drummer Travis Wells, and singers/ brothers Chris and Patrick Brake, who are all from Sparta, Georgia, along with the band’s lead guitar player David Childers, who is from Augusta.
Ill Wind is a party band that covers Southern Rock, oldies, country and classic rock hits that will please any crowd. Although they never officially disbanded, they haven’t played together since the wedding reception for Kenny Thigpen’s daughter Codee Rainey two years ago.
Recently inspired to get together and play again, they decided to make it happen by booking a concert at the Eatonton Cotton Warehouse, to be performed at 7:30p.m. (give or take) on Saturday, August 26th, 2017. The night’s playlist is sure to include plenty of Marshall Tucker and Marvin Gaye, so put on your dancing shoes and come prepared to sing along.
